From a group-chat joke to 200,000 downloads

Mourad Chokeir
200,000 downloads, no active marketing
The idea
Mourad built Finger Chooser as a joke for a friends’ group chat: everyone puts a finger on the screen and the app picks one — who buys coffee, who drives, who goes first. No signup, no setup.
The growth
The app solved a small moment that happens everywhere. That was enough: it reached 200,000 downloads without active marketing.
The problem
Mourad had a full-time job and other projects. Dependency updates, user support and store policy work kept piling up, and the app risked going stale.
What happened next
Rather than let it stagnate, Mourad sold the app — with no user disruption during the transfer — and put the freed-up time into the next project, Rain Now, which took off in France.
